Drug free child headache remedy with cold laser therapy

A child headache always worries parents. Be reassured because most headaches in children are not the result of a serious condition.

Like adults, children and adolescents also suffer from headaches. They get the same type of headaches as adults including: migraines, sinus headaches and tension headaches .

Cold laser therapy is a safe and effective option for treating headaches in children.

Cold laser therapy aims two goals when treating migraine headaches in children or any other type of headache. These are to:

• 1)Eliminate or reduce the number of headache episodes
  
  
• 2) Eliminate or reduce the headache pain during an episode.

The technique is very simple and takes often less than five minutes. The laser light is applied a few seconds at a time, depending on the power of the laser, to the same pressure points as in acupuncture.

I usually prefer to use a laser with lower than 100mW of power on children. Some children have expressed some discomfort when using higher power lasers on them. Children seem to need less stimulation than adults in order to get a therapeutic response. Generally, they respond faster and to greater extend than adults.

One should always consult a health professional to find the cause of the headache before treating with cold laser therapy.

Never use laser therapy on the head of a young infant before the fontanels are closed.
